The Institute of Forest Research and Services of the National University (INISEFOR) and the National Forest Financing Fund (Fonafifo), product of the technical cooperation covered in an Agreement signed in 2017, present the publication called “Incidence and severity of the stem rot in Gmelina arborea (Melina) plantations in Costa Rica” (Spanish version only), which provides statistical information on the incidence of pathogens in the Huetar Norte Region, the Huetar Atlántica Region and the Chorotega Region, which reach 76% of the area reforested with this species in the country.

Fonafifo monitors wildlife

The Costa Rican Tourism Institute and Fonafifo signed an alliance against climate change. As october 28, 2020, the ICT will encourage tourists to offset greenhouse gas emissions from their land and air travel. This money will be applied in the Payment Program for Environmental Services, in recovery of forest cover. Link: to the video I attach. How to compensate.

Green Motion car and van rental, through an alliance with Fonafifo started in 2017, develops a program to attract financial resources for the Payment of Environmental Services. With the money received, the company buys carbon credits from Fonafifo to offset greenhouse gas emissions. This money, according to the signed agreement, is applied in a payment for environmental services project, named Bosque Vivo Osa. At BV Osa farms, we obtain records of the presence of fauna species, through the application of various methodologies, including cameras-trapping and bioacoustics. Thanks to the achievements, in 2020 we signed a new agreement.
